The Alleman Pioneers will face off against the Galesburg Silver Streaks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Galesburg took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Alleman, who comes in off a win.
Alleman took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Peoria Notre Dame.
Izzy Schneider spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
At the plate, Alleman saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sofia Diaz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. Another was Campbell Humphrey, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Alleman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Galesburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 35th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Abingdon/Avon, falling 15-8.
Evelin Guel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abigail Casey, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Galesburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-30. As for Alleman, their victory bumped their record up to 9-19.
Galesburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Alleman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Galesburg, though, as they've only averaged .202. Will they be able to contain Alleman's hitters?
Alleman took their win against Galesburg in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 16-4 score. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Streaks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
