The Carson City-Crystal Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Greenville Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Monday, Carson City-Crystal made easy work of Montabella and carried off a 12-1 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Haven Reeder made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Reeder was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Carson City-Crystal let Calli Heleski and Addison Bolen run wild. Heleski scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4, while Bolen went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Haedee Clark was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Carson City-Crystal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montabella only posted an OBP of .391.
While Greenville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Lakeview on Friday as they made off with a 15-4 win. The victory was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets as they're now sitting on four straight.
Cam Klco spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Drew Galey, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Alexa Hyler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Greenville pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.1 runs. As for Carson City-Crystal, their record now sits at 2-0.
