Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mercer walked away with it. They took down the Ellwood City Wolverine 65-50 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for the Mustangs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Ellwood City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Chris Smiley, who shot 46% from the field on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Chuckie Schweinsberg, who earned 11 points.

Mercer's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Ellwood City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season.

Mercer will square off against Aliquippa on Wednesday. Ellwood City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
