After a string of three wins, the Fort Elliott Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between them and Follett wasn't particularly close, with Fort Elliott falling 47-28. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Fort Elliott of the 38-35 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Follett's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kimber Wheatley, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Wheatley hasn't dropped below three steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Reyna Rosales, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Fort Elliott's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Follett, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Fort Elliott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Follett will take on the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Forgan has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Panthers will arrive with four straight victories.
