The Brookfield Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Memorial 53-47. While losing is never fun, Brookfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 632nd, while Memorial is ranked 309th).
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nevon Hoffman, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Hoffman is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Matteo Fortuna, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Josue Rodriguez was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with seven steals for Memorial. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Teyon Harris, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.
Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Memorial, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brookfield will take on Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Newton Falls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. As for Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against LaBrae at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LaBrae has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 693 points over their last ten contests.
