After flying high against the Creede Miners on Thursday, the Center Vikings came back down to earth. Center took a 42-23 bruising from Sargent on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 62 points in the game before, Center couldn't push the score so high this time.
Despite the loss, Center saw an underclassman step up: Anjel Palma scored 6 points along with 3 steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Center struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sargent pulled down 14.
Sargent was led to victory by Hayden Lester and Lucas Garcia. Lester scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds, while Garcia scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Fernando Venzor was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Center now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Sargent, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Center will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Dolores at 4:20 p.m. on December 2nd. As for Sargent, they will face off against Sangre de Cristo at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
