Football Recap: Johnstown-Monroe Takes Down Indian Creek in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Johnstown-Monroe walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 51-37 victory over the Indian Creek Redskins on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Johnnies as they're now sitting on five straight.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Ryan Sager and Landon Myers. Sager rushed for 204 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry while Myers rushed for 142 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Sager is becoming a predictor of Johnstown-Monroe's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).

Johnstown-Monroe was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 339 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Johnstown-Monroe's victory bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Indian Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 9-2.

Johnstown-Monroe didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-21 defeat against Jonathan Alder on the 7th. Indian Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
