The Shadow Mountain Matadors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Thunderbird. Shadow Mountain has not had much luck with Thunderbird recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Several Matadors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pierce Rogers, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Rogers hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Cory Lamb-Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Ryan Calcaterra continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thunderbird, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Calcaterra has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Braddix, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Shadow Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Thunderbird, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Paradise Honors the next time they take the court. Thunderbird will host Paradise Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Shadow Mountain will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
