The Champion Golden Flashes can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They breezed by Liberty at home to the tune of 59-16. Given Champion's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Leopards are ranked 744th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Champion got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Meyer out in front who scored 18 points along with four steals. Meyer hasn't dropped below four steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Haynie, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Champion's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Liberty, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-16.
Champion will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Memorial has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
