Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Priest River). They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the St. Maries Lumberjacks on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jacob Best spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on three hits. He has become a key player for Priest River: the team is 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Broden Collins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Logan Troumbley, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Priest River's victory bumped their record up to 5-13. As for St. Maries, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Priest River nor St. Maries have any future games scheduled.
