Baseball Recap: Elba's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Elba not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 6th. They put the hurt on the Highland Home Flying Squadron with a sharp 15-4 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Brady Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Elba is 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-11 otherwise. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Elba let Powell Bane and Jaden Baker run wild. Bane scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Baker scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Baker a new career-high. Matthew McCart was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Elba's win bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Highland Home, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elba will welcome Georgiana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Highland Home, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Calhoun at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
