The Oviedo Lions are taking a road trip to take on the Lake Howell Silverhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oviedo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Oviedo barely beat Dr. Phillips the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Panthers on Wednesday. The Lions not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.
Dalton Hitt looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Oviedo's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 7-14 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Juan Velez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Benjamin Lau, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Oviedo lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lake Howell hadn't done well against Olympia recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Silverhawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Titans a 4-0 shutout. The win was some much needed relief for the Silverhawks as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Diego Miranda looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lake Howell's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Connor McBratney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Oviedo pushed their record up to 9-15 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Howell, their record now sits at 11-12.
Oviedo skirted past Lake Howell 3-2 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
