Northwest Central recap Oct. 30, 2012
Fort Loramie extended the longest winning streak in Northwest Central this week by beating Upper Scioto Valley, 34-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Redskins.
Fairbanks was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Panthers defeated Riverside 41-13 earlier in the week.
Fairbanks' dynamic duo of Hunter Burnett and Phillip Gibson proved tough for the Pirates to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Burnett threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns and Gibson had 137 yards receiving. Ben Van Gorden helped Fairbanks' passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
Brandon Neal was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 14 carries, he ran for 216 yards as Perry defeated Riverside. Teammate Quis Woods added to the ground attack by rushing for 163 yards.
The Panthers' Burnett and Gibson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Northwest Central in both passing and receiving yards. Burnett has thrown for 2082 yards this season, while Gibson, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 59 catches for 1096 yards. The Commodores' Woods leads the league in rushing yards with 1413.
Perry led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Ridgemont. Neal threw for six yards and one touchdown in the win.
