The Jonesboro Eagles were the 43-22 winner over the Evant Elks when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Jonesboro fell 46-34 to Evant on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that Jonesboro has lost by exactly 12 points.
Evant was led to victory by Molly Waldrum and Luwi Rodriquez. Waldrum scored 19 points, while Rodriquez scored 14 points along with 6 assists. The matchup was Rodriquez's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bree Ramirez, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Jonesboro and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Evant, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jonesboro will face off against Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evant will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Iredell at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th.
