Wes-Del extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping their season record up to 9-3 in the process. They blew past the Tri-Central Trojans 11-0. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Bailee West made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keylie Byrd, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Wes-Del kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.
As for Tri-Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, their shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
On Tri-Central's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Claire Conrad, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Coming up, Wes-Del is taking a road trip to face off against Blackford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.7 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Tri-Central, they will welcome North Miami at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
