Baseball Game Preview: Normandy Invaders vs. North Rangers

The Normandy Invaders are taking a road trip to take on the North Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. North took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Normandy, who comes in off a win.

Normandy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Bay with a sharp 11-0 win. The Invaders have beaten the Rockets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rockets has come to flipping the script.

Evan Lucas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Normandy is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-12 otherwise. Lucas was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Normandy got a massive performance out of Andrew Sikon, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The Invaders are undefeated when Sikon posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Victor Reyes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Perry. That's two games in a row now that the Rangers have lost by exactly three runs.

North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Grinstead, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Normandy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-13. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for North, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
