Hanover-Horton won against East Jackson on Monday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Comets didn't even let the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks on the board, marking the Comets' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won nine matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Alexyn DuBois made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hanover-Horton got a massive performance out of Halle Swihart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Ava Smith was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.

Hanover-Horton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .818. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hanover-Horton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Vandercook Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Coming up, Hanover-Horton will square off against Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Vandercook Lake, they will challenge Michigan Center at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
