The Payson Longhorns were the 43-38 winner over the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Payson fell to the Yellow Jackets 56-50. Payson's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mylee Redford, who scored 15 points along with five steals. It was the first time this season that Redford scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzy White, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Payson's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Blue Ridge, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Show Low the next time they take the court. Payson will host the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Yellow Jackets will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
