Greenville's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Mercer hitters got past them. The Trojans lost 13-6 to the Mustangs on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Trojans have suffered against the Mustangs since May 2, 2018.
Greenville saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Solderich, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, Reynolds posted their closest win since March 28th on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rocky Grove, sneaking past 6-4. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Brady Nehlen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Nehlen was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Kendall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cooper Bonadio also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Greenville fell to 9-1. As for Reynolds, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-8-1.
Reynolds' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Greenville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. It's a different story for Reynolds, though, as they've only averaged .195. Will they be able to contain Greenville's hitters?
Greenville took their victory against Reynolds in their previous meeting on April 3rd by a conclusive 9-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
