JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -
Matt Shaffer threw for four touchdowns as
Richland (Johnstown, Pa.) bested Westmont Hilltop (Johnstown, Pa.) 63-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Shaffer to
Nico Pecora in the first quarter, the Rams led 50-7 at the half.
Richland expanded its lead to 56 points entering the fourth quarter. RHS scored two times in the third, including once on a
Dominic Farina touchdown run.
The Rams put up 36 points in the first quarter en route to the win. Richland scored on a touchdown pass by Shaffer to Pecora, a touchdown run by
Nick Naglic, a Pecora touchdown run, a defensive touchdown and a Shaffer touchdown pass to
Kyle Flick in the quarter.
Shaffer was the top performer for RHS. The senior quarterback threw four touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
The Rams came into the game allowing 12.7 points per game. The 14 points that the Hilltoppers ended with were below their average of 19.7 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 51-23 win for Richland.
Westmont Hilltop (0-7) will play a Laurel Highlands game against Bishop Guilfoyle next week, while Richland (7-0) will take on Penn Cambria also in a Laurel Highlands game.
