Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sagemont walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Atlantic Christian Sharks 74-30. The Prep have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 29 points or more this season.
Matthew Able was his usual excellent self, going 8-for-13 on his way to 21 points and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 40.1% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Kevin Thomas, who went 6-for-7 en route to 15 points.
Sagemont was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atlantic Christian only one assist.
Several Sharks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gabriel Poitier, who posted six points.
The victory (which was Sagemont's fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points over those games. As for Atlantic Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 25-3.
Looking ahead, Sagemont will face off against Impact Christian Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Impact Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Sagemont likes a good challenge. Atlantic Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
