The Opp Bobcats suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Daleville by a score of 40-37. Opp was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Daleville apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Defeat or not, Opp got some senior leadership from Josh Smith who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and Dorian Harris who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Harris hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Alan Jones was another key contributor, scoring four points.
This is the second loss in a row for Opp and nudges their season record down to 2-16. As for Daleville, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Opp will take on Pike County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Daleville, they will head out on the road to square off against New Brockton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
