Salesian (Richmond, Calif.) had a big 27-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 40-0 victory over St. Patrick/St. Vincent (Vallejo, Calif.).
The Pride scored on a touchdown run by
Trevor Thomas, a touchdown pass by
Zach Boyett to
Tyrone Morgan, a Boyett touchdown pass to Morgan and a Thomas touchdown run in the quarter.
Salesian was up 34-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
De'angelo Hernandez touchdown run in the first quarter.
Morgan was the top performer for SHS. The junior wide receiver caught two touchdowns.
The Richmond school went into the matchup giving up only 13.0 points per game. The zero points that the Bruins ended with were well below their average of 16.5 coming into the game.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Pride, which was coming off a 42-6 defeat at the hands of El Cerrito in its previous game.
Salesian (6-1) goes up against St. Mary's in a Tri-County - Rock game matchup next week, while St. Patrick/St. Vincent (1-6) locks horns with Valley Christian also in a Tri-County - Rock game.
