Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Wins Going Away Against Timnath

Roosevelt came out on top against Timnath on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Cubs. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Mason Sauer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Sauer has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Unruh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timnath only posted an OBP of .286.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Timnath, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Roosevelt will face off against Thompson Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Roughriders surely won't give up without a fight. Timnath does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
