The East Duplin Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the North Lenoir Hawks at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Duplin comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but East Duplin had to settle for a 54-51 defeat against Richlands.
East Duplin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zachary Ball, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds, and Jeremiah Judge who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Calvin Harper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Duplin were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, even though Ayden - Grifton scored an imposing 57 points on Wednesday, North Lenoir still came out on top. North Lenoir strolled past Ayden - Grifton with points to spare, taking the game 76-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Lenoir.
East Duplin's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for North Lenoir, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
East Duplin was dealt a bruising 85-54 loss at the hands of North Lenoir in their previous matchup back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point East Duplin was down 46-25.
