Iredell is 10-0 against Morgan since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Iredell Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Morgan Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
On January 2nd, Iredell came up short against Walnut Springs and fell 39-30.
Meanwhile, Morgan also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Meridian by a score of 35-22. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morgan in their matchups with Meridian: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Morgan saw an underclassman step up: Elizabeth Gonzalez scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Gonzalez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Bianca Aviles, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Iredell's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Morgan, they bumped their record down to 5-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything went Iredell's way against Morgan in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as Iredell made off with a 52-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Iredell since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
