Softball Recap: Edina Extends Winning Streak to Three

Edina waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Buffalo Bison as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Claire Best tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kenzie Cox, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Sylvia VanNorman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Edina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buffalo only posted an OBP of .400.

Edina's record is now 7-3. As for Buffalo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Edina will square off against Eden Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Buffalo, they will take on St. Michael-Albertville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bison's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
