The Mission Hills Grizzlies will head out on the road to take on the San Marcos Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mission Hills comes in on 11 and San Marcos on three.
Mission Hills stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They blew past Poway, posting a 68-36 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mission Hills has posted since December 21, 2023.
Meanwhile, even though Ramona scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, San Marcos still came out on top. San Marcos managed a 66-61 victory over Ramona. Given San Marcos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Ramona is ranked 690th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Marcos found their leader in underclassman Jalen Williams, who scored 25 points along with four steals. Williams continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Tuason, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Mission Hills' win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for San Marcos, they pushed their record up to 16-4 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Mission Hills beat San Marcos 73-63 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mission Hills since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
