I Section IV recap September 17, 2013
Desert Vista's Richard Haywood recorded the longest rushing play in I Section IV this season in his game against Boulder Creek last week. Haywood ran for 59 yards on the play and finished with 67 on the day as his team lost to the Jaguars.
Mountain Pointe added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Maryvale, 71-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Mountain Pointe's dynamic duo of Antonio Hinojosa and Jalen Brown proved tough for the Panthers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hinojosa threw for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns and Brown had 60 yards receiving. Timmy Hernandez helped Mountain Pointe's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 60 yards.
Norris Vaughan's team's dynamic duo of Hinojosa and Brown proved to be unstoppable against Maryvale, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
RJ Rhiner was a passing and rushing force as Corona del Sol fell to Skyline. He completed 10 passes for 132 yards and also ran for 46 yards. Rhiner's favorite target this week was Blake Jones, who caught 5 passes for 58 yards.
He went 8-8 with 0 interceptions.
Hinojosa put up the best numbers in passing as the Pride topped Cornelius Bowick's team.
Brown was the best receiver in the league this week as Mountain Pointe defeated the Panthers.
Jones was the most successful running back in I Section IV this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 80 yards as the Aztecs topped Maryvale. George Wright also contributed to the rushing game with 50 yards on the ground.
Mountain Pointe took down the Panthers 71-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hinojosa in the win.
