Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Dreyfoos School of the Arts

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Morningside Academy). They breezed by the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Jaguars to the tune of 84-45 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morningside Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than AJ Chang, who went 7 for 11 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven assists. Chang is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Stephen Moss, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards.

Chang wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Morningside Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dreyfoos School of the Arts only racked up five assists.

Dreyfoos School of the Arts' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zach Turner, who went 6 of 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of James Griffin, who went 5 for 7 en route to 13 points.

The victory was the third in a row for Morningside Academy, bringing their record for this year to 9-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Dreyfoos School of the Arts, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Morningside Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-53 loss against St. Edward's on the 14th. As for Dreyfoos School of the Arts, they will take on Boca Raton Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Boca Raton Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
