The Marietta Blue Devils lost against the North Paulding Wolfpack back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Marietta fell 35-27 to North Paulding. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marietta in their matchups with North Paulding: they've now lost three in a row.
Marietta's loss came despite strong showings from Russell Bey and Chase McCravy. Bey gained 133 total yards, while McCravy rushed for 99 yards on only six carries. McCravy's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
North Paulding got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Calvin Scott out in front who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Danny Pitts, who rushed for 40 yards and three touchdowns.
Marietta's defeat was their third straight at home , which bumped their record down to 3-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely North Paulding, McEachern, and North Cobb. As for North Paulding, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Marietta will head out on the road to face off against Westlake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Marietta in Georgia (Westlake is ranked tenth, while Marietta is ranked 66th). As for North Paulding, they will be playing at home against East Coweta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
