Football Game Preview: Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy vs. South Beloit Sobos

Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy will head out to challenge the South Beloit Sobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy turned things around against Harvest-Westminster on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Warrior-Lions a 44-0 shutout. Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

JD Highman went supernova, rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 132 yards and one TD. Those rushing touchdowns marked the first that he has punched in this season. JJ Ethen also helped out with an impressive 103 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: John Tejeda and Kevin Tukashaba, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, South Beloit faced Alden-Hebron in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Sobos breezed past the Green Giants to the tune of 49-7. Considering the Sobos have won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy's record now sits at 2-5. As for South Beloit, their record is now 6-0.

Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy lost to South Beloit on the road by a decisive 34-20 margin when the teams last played back in September. Can Abundant Life/St. Ambrose Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
