The Florence/Henry Falcons will head out on the road to challenge the Castlewood Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Florence/Henry put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 57-21 win over Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] at home. Given Florence/Henry's advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Tigers are ranked 102nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Castlewood beat the Bulldogs 45-33 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Castlewood.
Castlewood can attribute much of their success to Natalie Akin, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Presley Knecht, who scored 16 points along with three steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Knecht posted two or more blocks.
Florence/Henry's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Castlewood, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season.
Florence/Henry was able to grind out a solid victory over the Warriors in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 43-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Florence/Henry since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
