Basketball Recap: Imagine School at North Port Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ida Baker on Friday, Imagine School at North Port came back down to earth. The Imagine School at North Port Sharks might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Parrish Community Bulls an easy 71-49 victory. The Sharks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Imagine School at North Port saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zahmir Jackson went 10 of 17 on his way to 25 points. The contest was Jackson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Kirkus, who posted nine points and five assists.

Parrish Community's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Edwards, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 18 points and seven assists. Edwards has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dudache Belony, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards.

Imagine School at North Port's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Parrish Community, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Imagine School at North Port will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Neumann at 1:30 p.m. on January 4th. Imagine School at North Port is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season. As for Parrish Community, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-53 win against Riverview Sarasota on the 27th.
