The McKinney Boyd Broncos will take on the Sherman Bearcats in a tournament on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
It looked like the Kentucky Derby when McKinney Boyd faced off against Sachse on Thursday. McKinney Boyd was the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Sachse. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Madison Treadwell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last nine contests. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, McKinney Boyd let Addyson Lewis and Beckham Manley run wild. Lewis scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Manley scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Manley posted two hits, the most she's had over her last 12 games. Another player making a difference was Presley Ellsworth, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
McKinney Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sherman). They came out on top against McKinney by a score of 20-17 on Thursday. With that victory, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
The team relied heavily on Brennah Mask, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Halia Feeny was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
McKinney Boyd's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.3 in the others. As for Sherman, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6-1.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McKinney Boyd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Sherman struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McKinney Boyd took their win against Sherman when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5. Does McKinney Boyd have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sherman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
