The Nicolet Knights pushed their score all the way to 55 on Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Raymond Boys. While losing is never fun, Nicolet can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 140th in Wisconsin, while St. Raymond Boys is ranked second in New York).
Despite the loss, Nicolet still got an impressive performance from Davion Hannah, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Hannah scored a full 41.8% of Nicolet's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Bender, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Nicolet's loss ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for St. Raymond Boys, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nicolet will take on Grafton at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Grafton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 348 points over their last five games. As for St. Raymond Boys, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. St. Michael Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
