Even though the Rock Creek Academy Lions have not done well against the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Rock Creek Academy walked away with a 55-42 win over Shawe Memorial. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Rock Creek Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Creek Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shanelle Jones, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Aleeyah Brown, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Rock Creek Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Shawe Memorial, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-6 record last season and are now at 5-9.
Rock Creek Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Whitefield Academy at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Whitefield Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Saturday. As for Shawe Memorial, they will head out on the road to face off against Oldenburg Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oldenburg Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
