The Cyprus Pirates will head out on the road to square off against the Kearns Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cyprus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Cyprus scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Granger for the full four quarters, racking up a 84-47 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Cyprus has managed all season.
Cyprus got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Stone Tia out in front who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tia has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Koli Fosita, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Kearns managed to keep up with Juan Diego Catholic until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Kearns ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-42 walloping at the hands of Juan Diego Catholic. Kearns has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cyprus' win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13. As for Kearns, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Everything went Cyprus' way against Kearns in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as Cyprus made off with a 70-50 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Kearns' Tresor Ndayisenga, who scored 26 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Cyprus to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
