Lovington is a perfect 3-0 against Dexter since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Lovington is taking a road trip to take on Dexter at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lovington has three straight victories, Dexter has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Lovington didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Loving on Thursday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Ethan Gonzales made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one). He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since March 1st.

In other batting news, Patrick Sanchez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Ryan Wieser was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

Meanwhile, Dexter came up short against Hot Springs on Thursday, falling 15-5.

Lovington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Dexter, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Lovington took their win against Dexter in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 21-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lovington since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
