The Miami Beach Hi-Tides will challenge the Miami Stingarees at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Miami Beach came up short against Monsignor Pace on Thursday, falling 10-3. The Hi-Tides have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Miami Beach got a good showing from Tomas Useche, who pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Useche gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, Miami Beach saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yeiber Vivas, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Miami made easy work of Booker T. Washington on Wednesday and carried off an 11-2 win. The Stingarees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by seven runs or more this season.
Lucas Arriaza made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jann Soto, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Noah Llovet was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Miami's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Miami Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
Miami Beach might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Miami in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can the Hi-Tides avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
