ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - A big 28-point second quarter helped carry the Fighting Cyclones to a 42-7 victory over Unicoi County (Erwin, Tenn.) on Saturday.
Elizabethton scored on an
Ethan Thomas touchdown run, a touchdown run by Thomas, a
Caleb Bailey touchdown pass to
Jacob Woodby and an Thomas touchdown run in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Bailey in the first quarter, EHS led 35-0 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 35.
With the win the Fighting Cyclones extended their winning streak to seven games. Elizabethton defeated Johnson County 38-0 last week.
Unicoi County's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the third quarter.
Elizabethton went into the matchup giving up only 10.5 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Unicoi County, who notched a 33-30 victory over Happy Valley in its previous outing.
