Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Palmview

Palmview came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Cigarroa Toros. The result was nothing new for the Lobos, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Abigail Cantu made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Gabriela Garza was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Alynna Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Palmview's record now sits at 9-5. As for Cigarroa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Palmview and Cigarroa will both be playing Juarez-Lincoln the next time they take the field. Palmview will head out to face Juarez-Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Cigarroa will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
