Baseball Recap: Somerville Takes a Loss

Somerville lost against Round Top-Carmine back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Somerville Yeguas took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Round Top-Carmine Cubs. The Yeguas have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Christian Esqueda made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Esqueda is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Reggie Shivers, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Somerville's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Round Top-Carmine, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

While Somerville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
