San Dieguito Academy and Carlsbad are an even 5-5 against one another  since October of 2016, but  not for long. The Mustangs will host the Lancers  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It looked like the Kentucky Derby when San Dieguito Academy challenged Rancho Bernardo on Wednesday. The Mustangs fell just short of the Broncos by a score of  3-2. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
 San Dieguito Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 16-25, 25-15, 25-20,  15-11.

 San Dieguito Academy might have lost, but man,  Ellie Burr was a machine:  she  had 31  digs and two  aces. Burr has been hot for a while, having  posted 13 or more  digs the last 12 times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Riley Balogh, who  had six  blocks, four  digs,  and three  aces.
Meanwhile, Carlsbad entered their  contest against Torrey Pines  on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Lancers lost  3-0 to the Falcons.
 Carlsbad was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the  first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-14,  25-19.
 Carlsbad's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for San Dieguito Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-21-1.
 San Dieguito Academy might still be hurting after the  3-0 loss they got from Carlsbad  in their previous matchup  two weeks ago. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road?
