On Monday, in a tight game that could have gone either way, Smithville made off with a 46-45 win over the Panthers.
Smithville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mary Haley Hood, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hood hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Mikayla Wall was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Smithville's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for West Lowndes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Houlka is out to stop a nine-game streak of losses at home. As for West Lowndes, they will head out on the road to challenge the Chieftains at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Okolona is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
