Stratton is 3-0 against Idalia since October of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Stratton Eagles will be playing at home against the Idalia Wolves at 1:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Stratton sitting on six straight victories and Idalia on five.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stratton walked away with it. They took their matchup at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 45-12 win over Sierra Grande. The result was nothing new for Stratton, who have now won ten contests by 33 points or more so far this season.
Stratton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cyler Notter, who rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Stockton Fye, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, Idalia faced Walsh in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Idalia walked away with a 32-22 win over Walsh on Friday. The score was all tied up 16-16 at the break, but Idalia was the (much) better team in the second half.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Gabe Kechter and Leyton Jones. Kechter had a great game and rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Meanwhile, Jones was balling out in the loss, rushing for 108 yards and three touchdowns.
Stratton has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Idalia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Stratton against Idalia when the teams last played back in September as the team secured a 57-13 victory. Does Stratton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Idalia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
