Oak Park-River Forest is 8-2 against Glenbard West since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Huskies will head out to challenge the Hilltoppers at 4:45 p.m. Oak Park-River Forest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.3 runs per game this season.
Oak Park-River Forest is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Lyons just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Huskies couldn't push the score so high this time.
Oak Park-River Forest got a good showing from Carolyn Rainey, who struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Elyssa Hasapis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of nine wins, Glenbard West's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They came up short against Wheaton-Warrenville South, falling 13-5.
Ainslie Bobroff made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Stieglitz, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Oak Park-River Forest's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 18-5. As for Glenbard West, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-3.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Oak Park-River Forest has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Glenbard West struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Oak Park-River Forest took their victory against Glenbard West in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Hilltoppers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
