Despite the defeat, Brownell Talbot had strong showings from Avery Nichols, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 steals, and Nya Ping, who scored 6 points. Nichols scored a full 34.8% of Brownell Talbot's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Mead, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They were beaten by Bancroft-Rosalie 63-10 on Saturday. Mead was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-4.
Gross Catholic's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Brownell Talbot's loss dropped theirs to 1-2.
Everything came up roses for Brownell Talbot against Mead when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 48-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brownell Talbot since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
