The Cherryville Ironmen lost against the Shelby Golden Lions back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Cherryville was dealt a 67-30 loss at the hands of Shelby. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cherryville in their matchups with Shelby: they've now lost five in a row.
Cherryville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darrien Floyd, who scored ten points. Nate Bookout was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Cherryville has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Shelby, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherryville will take on Burns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burns is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Shelby, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Huss at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Huss focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday.
