Baseball Recap: Germantown Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pearl

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Germantown). Everything went their way against the Pearl Pirates on Friday as the Germantown Mavericks made off with a 12-2 win. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ty Ramage made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Ashton Smith was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Attison O'Cain was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Germantown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Germantown's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Pearl, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Germantown will square off against Vicksburg at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Vicksburg has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.22 runs per game on average), something Germantown will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pearl, they will face off against Terry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pearl has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
